Rollin' On The River Band Contest

The annual "Rollin' on the River" band contest will be held in the Elementary gym on Friday, February 23rd.  The event starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. It is $1.00 for entry, and you will get to watch performances by Northwood High School band, Many High School band, Benton High School band, Rusheon Middle School band, Lakeview Senior Junior High School band, Bossier High School band,and Logansport High School Symphonic Band.

 


A HUGE TIGER SHOUT OUT to one of Mrs. Sharrow's litte tigers. John Thomas Armstrong is a 3 year old student and today he amazed his teachers when he can count all the way to 100!!! This is an outstanding accomplishment for a student his age, his parents, and the teachers and aids that work with him. Congrats John Thomas! You no doubt have super bright future at LHS! We are so proud of you!

LHS welcomes another familiar face to the family, Ms Abbie Woods.

 

Abbie graduated from LHS and then attended Centenary College.

 

She will teach elementary special education.


Ms. Woods enjoys watching sports and spending time outside with her dog, Theo.

 

Some of her favorite things include softball, Mexican food, and her hometown of Logansport.


"I am so excited to give back to the school & parish that gave me so much to me growing up!" says Ms. Abbie Woods.

Meet Mrs. Savannah Urda! She might be a familiar face to some because Mrs. Urda is an LHS graduate, after finishing high school she attended Northwestern State University.

 

Mrs. Urda took Mrs. Mann's kindergarten class. She is coming to us from Zwolle Elementary, she has also taught at Central School Corp.

 

When Mrs. Urda isn't helping mold the young minds of LES she spends her time with her husband, Ethan and son, Jaxon. The family also includes three dogs Dixie, Gunner, & Remi.

 

On the weekends, Mrs. Urda likes hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. A few of Mrs. Urda's favorite things are LSU, Mexican food, and her home in Converse, La.

 

"I am so excited to have the opportunity to be back at my home school doing the job that I LOVE! Looking forward to a great year." says Urda

Ms. Prealow took Mrs. Harris' 5th grade classes.

 

Ms. Prealow attended Red River High School and went to college at Louisiana Tech University.

 

Before joining us she taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Red River Elementary.

 

When not here with our students, Ms. Prealow enjoys spending time with her son Ethan and her cockapoo, Riley at their home in Shreveport, La.

 

Her passions include singing, playing the piano, and watching New Orleans Saints football. Some of her favorite foods are salads, hot wings, and hamburgers.

LHS is happy to introduce Ms. Sarah Aydelott. Ms. Aydelott will be taking Mrs. Arbuckle's 1st grade class.

 

She went to Neville High School in Monroe, La and then Louisiana Tech University.

 

Ms. Aydelott is coming to us from Mansfield Elementary School. She enjoys art, hunting, baking, and spending time with her dog, Ruger.

 

Sarah likes rooting for her favorite sports teams the Saints, Cowboys, and of course the LHS Tigers.

 

She loves Mexican food and pizza.

 

She is not only excited about becoming a member of the LHS family, but also becoming a part of the Logansport community where she now lives!

 

We are so happy to have her!

Sci-Port DeSoto Days


First Saturday of every month, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Made possible by the DeSoto Parish Police Jury


Residents of DeSoto Parish will have free admission to Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center’s permanent exhibit galleries on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Visitors must show proof of residency in DeSoto Parish to receive free admission. Admission to Sci-Port includes access to over 290 hands-on exhibits, daily interactive programs and demonstrations, and the Dayna and Ronald L. Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium. Access to Sci-Port’s current traveling exhibit may incur a small upcharge, which typically applies to all general visitors.
